群众：何为American Sign Language?

American Sign Language (ASL) is the predominant sign language of Deaf communities in the United States and most of anglophone Canada. Besides North America, dialects of ASL and ASL-based creoles are used in many countries around the world, including much of West Africa and parts of Southeast Asia. ASL is also widely learned as a second language, serving as a lingua franca.

简单来说，ASL中文译为北美手势语，是广泛应用于：美国、加拿大、西非和东南亚等部分地区的手语。虽然普遍在聋哑人之间使用，但手语也广泛地被作为第二语言学习，作为世界通用语。
