最近，在美版“知乎”Quora上这样一个提问火了：你去过的国家里，有哪个是与之前听到的描述完全不一样的？

其中有一个高赞回答：中国！

这位外国网友说：这是地球最安全的国家，在这里，我从未感到过害怕！
“在中国从未感到害怕过 ”在留言板里，一位叫Pete Truman的网友称，在他第一次来中国工作的时候，对中国的了解仅限于西方媒体的报道。
When I first came to China for work most of what I had known about China was from the western media.

However after living here for a few years I feel that there are lots and lots of junk information in the western media. It seems that a good number of journalists who write articles about China in all likelihood have never been to China.
例如，西方媒体经常会争论一个话题：在中国生活到底安不安全？

BBC在2019年的一篇文章中，开头就对中国枪支犯罪数量降低这一结论提出质疑。

甚至还援引澳大利亚国立大学一位研究中国犯罪事件的外国学者的观点，他扬言“中国犯罪率降低的数据都是谎言，纯粹是宣传和数据造假” 。
\"There are lies damned lies and Chinese crime statistics. It is sheer propaganda andthe falsification of data goes from each police station to the top level\" he says.
这位网友表示，事实上，中国是地球上最安全的地方之一 (one of the safest place to live on this earth) 。中国比他们通常在英文报纸上读到的要好得多。
Well China is a lot better place than what we typically read in the Englishnewspapers.

在中国你不用担心安全。你可以在城市和乡村、白天和晚上闲逛，没有任何问题，只要别犯法。
In general you don't need to worry about safety. You can wander in cities and in the countryside. You can wander in days and in the nights. No issues. Just don't touch the law.

再来看看这份2020年全球最危险城市排名表。
你会发现，中国根本没有任何城市上榜，反而是美国的几个城市赫然在列。

美国权威民调机构盖洛普（Gallup）10月27日公布了一份2020全球法律和秩序指数排名，中国名列第3 ，这显示出中国民众具有较高的安全感。
China ranked third in the latest global poll on people'sperceptions of their personal security by a pollster from the United States indicating its residents have a high sense of security.
有一位在中国待了6个月现在在美国的网友表示，在中国从来没感到害怕过，但是在美国，他的孩子们上周就亲眼目睹了隔壁楼的一起枪击案。中国是任何国家都比不上的，尤其是对移民来说。
中国的地铁太先进了在这个问题下方，一位叫Kev Puh的网友回答也获得了很多支持。

他说，在印象里，中国是这样的国家。

没想到，来了以后才发现，中国是这样的。

他说，深圳之旅改变了他的想法，让他意识到中国有能力建造世界级的基础设施。
深圳在那时（21世纪前10年）就已经有了地铁，而且还比巴黎和纽约的先进得多。当时地铁在我们国家还是很新的概念。
They have even already had subway trains back then which is still new in my country and the trains are much more advanced than the ones in Paris andNew York.
意想不到，这个国家也获得了“高赞”在留言板里，一个让人意想不到的答案获得了许多关注：美国！

评论却都是大写的“失望”二字！

在美国居住了二十多年的网友Chris Parsons感慨道，美国跟想象中的差距让他震惊。
去亚利桑那州的首府凤凰城，开车往南走，一路看起来像个第三世界国家。好吧，再去底特律吧，看起来还是像第三世界国家。俄勒冈州泰格德的拖车社区，看起来就像是印度或巴西的贫民窟。
Go to Phoenix AZ some time and drive south. Looks like a 3rd world country. Oh but that’s just because it’s remote desert etc. Ok fine. Go to Detroit MI. Not so remote. Still looks like a third world country in places. Checkout the trailer-park pocket neighbourhoods in Tigard OR. They look like the slum towns in India or Brazil.
他还谈到，如果你只是到美国游玩，你可能不会注意到美国根深蒂固的种族歧视、贫富差距等问题。但当你在这居住一段时间后，你会发现这里和你想象的完全不同。
When you visit the USA as a tourist you don’t see these problems. You probably don't even notice the insanely entrenched racism the wealth divide the incarceration rates or the militarization of the police forces across the country either.But live here for a while…it's shockingly different than you'd expect.
事实上，中国好不好，安不安全，我们自己最有发言权。

经历了2020年后，相信绝大多数中国人心里都有了更加明确的答案。
